River Severn Way Walk

Image
Yet another sunny day came around leaving myself and Sarah with the urge to explore across the way. Where would we end up today and goodness knows how far we'd end up. We took the road down town and across the river taking the pathway alongside the river (of course). This pathway was adjacent to the racecourse which was on the other side of the river. Initially the pathway begins alongside gardens coming almost onto the river, and they were very nice gardens indeed. So after this lovely open viewed walk it begins to go into woodlands/forest areas. Now if you are easily freaked, this would be a great place to express your fear. However, it was a rather beautiful trail, as Sarah put it 'like walking through the rainforest', thinking some animal would jump out at her (this is the girl who got freaked by cows, lovely girl really). So as the pathway goes on we came across several wrecked boats, and a gathering of old items on the bank (it looked kinda creepy). Then around the co

Weston Super Mare

On the 28th of June my father took me and my siblings out for the day for my birthday. It was a wonderful day even though the weather was atrocious at the beginning of the day. They picked me up from Worcester and we travelled down to Weston Super Mare. It was around about 11ish by the time we arrived and we had a wonderful sandwich/panini from a lovely little cafe along the seafront. We then made way up to the Grand Pier, to which my father was unconvinced it would cost £1 to get on, he believed me when he saw it though. Due to my brothers fascination in amusements we then proceeded into the building on the pier and lost quite a lot of money... Standard really.  On the pier they have an American milkshake diner which was too hard to avoid with these lot! We had a nice little wonder around the pier and then across near to the harbour for a while until returning to the car. Then headed round a few miles to a beach just on the outskirts of Weston Super Mare. The beach was

Healthy is the New Skinny

There are several things that tick my nerve, but one thing that really infuriates me is when people decided it's okay to shame on the way individual's bodies are (shape and size). I think it is really disgusting how people think saying negative things about the way people look will achieve anything other than causing that individual to be in pain. Sometimes even the case where the individual will have that comment played over and over for several years to come. I know they say 'Sticks and stones' etc, but harsh words stick, and they stick for a long time. Before I attended University, I was never really the healthiest person (even though I am vegetarian) and fair enough I wasn't exactly the smallest of people either. In fact, the first year of University went so downhill for my health and appearance, it was bad... However, last summer I made a change. I decided to be a better, fitter, healthier person. Yet still I'm not exactly the best looking figure around,

Worcester Krav Maga Taster Session

A friend of mine has been attending Krav Maga lessons in Worcester for several weeks and invited me along for a taster session. I thought this would be a good idea to try out, especially considering as a woman I feel more intimidated walking alone; day or night. What more do women want than to simply feel confident and safe walking home alone? So we went to the lesson held at St Johns Sport Centre and I was introduced to the people holding the session who appeared very friendly and welcoming. Then the session began... I will say I have been to Karate lessons before, but this was quite something. We went through several warm up activities and then progressed to moves of the art. This was quite confusing to begin with, especially with coordination! Fortunately, the people who I paired up with could tell this sort of thing was new to me and were really nice helping me get through the moves that I couldn't quite conquer to begin with. Although it was tough I didn't feel uncomfort

Northwick Lido Nature Reserve

It was a beautiful day the other day so two friends ( Khan and Sarah ) and myself decided to go for a wander. Little did we know where we'd end up and how far we had gone! We live in the city centre of Worcester, so what we came across was quite a surprise and contrast to where we had just walked from. Our usual day trips end up at Gheluvelt Park, so we headed that way but carried on through the estate beyond the park. Several alleyways and a field with adorable horses later we ended up facing a sign showing 'Northwick Lido Nature Reserve'.  Down a car track we wondered and came across the first sign which showed point 1 of the Northwick Heritage Trail and decided to follow the trail seen as we were already there! This trail entailed several fields alongside the river with several fields full of cows and horses. Bringing us to point 4 of the Heritage Trail to which we found ourselves trapped in a field with cows blocking the pathway to the gate. This dilemma mo
