Mountain Madness Pt Two

Image
So, recently, we decided to go to the Glyderau range yet again. This time, however, we attempted Y Garn. This involved going up Devil's Kitchen and instead of turning left to Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach we turned right past the lake. This trip was interesting. We knew what to expect after the last time, however, we didn't expect to be walking through clouds. I say interesting, but it was most certainly quite an experience to have been through, one I am very glad to have been through. Just at the beginning  View from Devil's Kitchen So after the initial struggle up through Devil's Kitchen, we noticed we couldn't quite see the peak where we were headed to. Not because it was so far away, but because it was covered in clouds. Not entirely sure why this came as such a surprise due to our view at the beginning being just clouds with some land trying to break through. Walking up Y Garn entailed two footpaths, one which was in the middle of the incline and the ...

Live XXL Hair Dye

Image
I previously decided I wanted to dye half my hair purple and it didn't quite work out as it turned red. So for some strange reason I decided to go all out and do a whole head make over. Apologies in advance for face spam. I'm naturally a brunette so it took two attempts at bleaching my hair before I could do anything with it. (Well half ginger half blonde....) The bottom half of my hair will have to be excused as it was previously red so it made it difficult to be the desired colour. Second attempt of bleaching  My hope was to dye it purple, but it initially didn't quite work out as intended. I used the Purple Punk Ultra Bright semi-permanent hair dye which took four bottles because of the length of my hair. Whilst the dye didn't quite work until the fourth attempt I am still quite pleased with the results and would 10/10 recommend using the product. So far I have had this on for four weeks and recently topped up on the colour due to fading of the fringe. It was ...

Mountain Madness Pt One

Image
Every year for the past 5 years my father and myself with my brother recently have been walking up hills in Snowdonia. This year it was the Glyderau range. In April we made an attempt up through Devil's Kitchen, to Glyder Fawr then across to Glyder Fach, then across up to the Cantilever. (So many names!) We started out with absolutely no idea what we were about to put ourselves through. Bad idea. To begin with it is a nice gentle walk up to the lake from Idwal Cottage. Then there is a gradual incline as you progress further around the lake, to which point it is unclear where the pathway is. The pathway is up. Yes, there are several points where we had to climb, which was particularly difficult for short people (me). Lake at bottom of Devil's Kitchen Eventually we got up to the lake at the top of Devil's Kitchen, thinking there's not too far to go now, surely that was the worst part. But no, we turned left and saw what was to our journey ahead. It was scree. Lots...

Things that make me happy

Image
This post is dedicated to things that make me happy, and rather than using things that are possessions this post will look at the experiences one cannot buy or own. If happiness is gained by owning possessions then it is never really true happiness. 1) I have fallen in love with the late night breeze before the sun sets, the way it is so overwhelming with freshness yet still holding the slight hint of warmth. 2) Summer nights. My all time favourite as it is something to look forward to in the darkest half of the year. I know it is only nearing the beginning of spring, but already the excitement for summer is hitting. With the clocks being brought forward fairly soon, so even lighter nights! Along with the increasing amount of sun throughout the day. 3) Friends and family. Living at uni means plenty of time away from family which requires forming a replacement family of some sort. The friends I live with never fail to bring a smile to my face, even if it's been a terrible day...

'Say you scrub me' gentle skin buffer

Image
Doing something a bit different today, never really done a product review before so here it goes! This product 'Say you scrub me' is a gentle skin buffer and it is beautiful. When I first opened it I was expecting some sort of cream/shower gel type but I was amazed as to what was in there. It is like jelly! But jelly that you can rub all over yourself to feel beautiful. The texture of this product is basically jelly and simply divine.  At first use of the skin buffer my skin did feel extremely rubbery while I was showering. However, once all dry and ready to put clothes on my skin felt really smooth. The second use of the product did not leave my skin feeling so rubbery while showering which I imagine is a good thing. Overall the pure fact that it feels like jelly was one of the main reasons I had to share this product with the world. I felt like a 7 year old again with all the excitement it caused. 10/10 recommend this product if you ever see it. ...

The Little Things

This post may be slightly strange and particularly cringe worthy in some aspects. So get ready to be thinking 'this girl is so soppy it makes me want to pray for her emotional state'. But anyway, over the past week I have done various activities, including getting ready for the second semester of university (which is pretty intense for the record). Which in turn has led to quite intense reading and acknowledgement of new information, and it is rather exhausting for the brain (especially when you only have a little one like myself). Now for the soppy part, so I'm not much of a social talker, talking to people is something I tend to avoid because I hate the idea of trying to make pointless conversation. But over the past week I have had splendid conversations with various people, and it was lovely. You know when you're feeling kind of 'meh' some days but can't curl up because you're out and about, where basically you seem like a miserable sod. But then som...

January Junctures

Now that the first month of this year is over with it is time to reflect upon the success and failures of this month in relation to New Year's resolutions. All in all I'd say this month has been successful and a great start to 2015. First off I have been exercising my ass off when I can and it is such a beautiful feeling and I've never felt so good about myself. As noted in my previous post, I joined a gym at the beginning of January. During each attendance to the gym I do think to myself why on earth am I paying to be in pain, but then as the saying goes 'no pain, no gain'. I find going to the gym is also extremely useful in terms of stress relief, for example the night before my presentation I went to the gym and burned off a lot of steam and didn't feel so stressed out afterwards. Secondly, I have started eating healthier towards the latter part of the month. My eating habits have previously been tragic in terms of health, mainly due to constantly revisin...
